ORION ROLF BLIZZARD SR.

Mr. Orion Rolf Blizzard Sr., 98, of Kenansville, died Friday, March 30, 2018, at home.

He was born Aug. 26, 1919, the son of Blaney and Lula Blizzard in Deep Run. O.R. served in the United States Air Force from 1942-1945. He was a member of Kenansville Baptist Church, where he served for many years as a deacon. He served on the Board of Directors at the Bank of America, was a committee member at the ASCS, and was a director at Farm Bureau. Most of his life was spent farming with his son, O.R. Blizzard Jr. Together, they farmed hogs, cattle, turkeys, and various crops.

He married Grace Taylor in 1946, who predeceased him in 2008. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Mildred Blizzard and Isabelle Carraway; and brothers, Henry Blizzard and J.D. Blizzard.

O.R. is survived by his son, O.R. Blizzard Jr. and wife, Annette, of Kenansville; daughter, Sally Bardin and husband, Bob, of Goldsboro; grandsons, Rolf Blizzard and wife, Ashley, and Spencer Edgerton; and granddaughters, Pamela Batts and husband, Shawn, and Taylor Glenn and husband, Barron.

In addition, he has five great-grandchildren: James Rolf Blizzard, Banks Blizzard, Charlotte Batts, Wilson Batts, and Corinne Glenn. He is also survived by two brothers, Ray Blizzard and Thomas Blizzard. The family is extremely grateful to his very devoted caregivers, Mavis Butler, Margie Fields, Tracy Hardison and Janelle Lilly, and his hospice nurse, Brandi Burrows-Hamm, and aide, Debra Fleming.

Funeral and visitation services will be held Monday, April 2, 2018, at Pink Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., April 2, 2018. The Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Kinston. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence of O.R. and Annette Blizzard, Kenansville.
