MARGARET PATE SASSER

Margaret "Pete" Pate Sasser, 88, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

Margaret was born in Wayne County on Aug. 11, 1929, to the late Jeff C. and Octavia Kirby Pate. She was married to the late Richard Calvin Sasser. Margaret had worked with Wayne Memorial Hospital and was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church. She was the rock of her family. Her husband, children and grandchildren knew that she loved them with all her heart and truly was a blessing to them.

A service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Bailey and the Rev. Barry Williamson officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church and at other times in her home. Interment will be on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the church cemetery of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Jeanne S. Pearce and husband, Jim, of Princeton; sons, Richard Pate Sasser of the home and Timothy "Timmy" Sasser of Patetown; grandchildren, T.J. Sasser and wife, Kristy, Kayla Sasser Threewitts and husband, Rex, Ian Speight, Richard Sasser, Noah Speight and Elizabeth Sasser; and two great-grandchildren, Presley Sasser and Ellie Threewitts. She is also survived by a special daughter, Connie Dickerson; and numerous nieces and nephews she loved very much.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Sasser; daughter-in-law, Melissa Sasser; mother-in-law, Lillie Mae Sasser; and 10 brothers and sisters.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Community Home Care and Hospice. Love and heartfelt thanks is also expressed to her caregivers and friends, Linda Smith, Jeanette Howell and Margaret Kornegay; together they demonstrated what constitutes excellent care.
