LINDA MOZINGO MALPASS

Linda Mozingo Malpass, 74, passed away in peace in her home after a courageous 15-year battle with cancer.

She was born July 12, 1943, in Portsmouth, Va., before moving to Goldsboro, where she lived most of her life.

She graduated from Wallace Rose Hill High School in 1961.

Linda retired from the state of North Carolina after 33 years of service in 2003, and was honored by Gov. Mike Easley with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award, which is among the most prestigious awards conferred by the governor with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary.

Linda loved working with people, and in recent years, enjoyed working at Waynesboro Ophthalmology.

Linda enjoyed traveling with friends and attending shows of all kinds. One of the joys of her life was working at the Rudy Theater in Selma.

She loved her family and friends, and was very proud of her daughters and granddaughters.

Preceded in death by her father Charles Mozingo, Linda joins her mother, Ethel Dail, in heaven, who passed away in June 2015.

She is survived by her sister, Kay and husband, Tommy Smith, of Goldsboro; brother, Lynwood Mozingo of Teachey, and stepsister, Francis Grantham of Fayetteville.

Daughters, Lisa and husband, Scott Allen, of Raleigh and Kelly Malpass of Raleigh.

Nephews, Kevin Smith and Scott and wife, Teresa Smith, of Goldsboro.

Granddaughters, Macy, Peyton and Tanner Allen of Raleigh.

Great-niece and nephew, Janie and Nick Smith of Goldsboro.

A service will be held at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro Sunday, March 18, at 2 p.m., with visitation following the service.

Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at the home of Tommy and Kay Smith.

The family would like to extend its gratitude to all of the friends and loved ones who prayed for and visited Linda over the past few months.

The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff from Christian CareGivers of Goldsboro, who provided her comfort and care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations go directly to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, www.3hc.org.
