LENWOOD B. PERRY

Oct. 25, 1936-Dec. 28, 2017

Lenwood Bailey Perry, 81, of LaGrange, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017.

Lenwood was born Oct. 25, 1936 in Greene County, to the late Johnnie and Mittie Hinnant Perry. Lenwood was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ruby Joyner Perry; and two sons, Lenwood Scott Perry and Ricky Lee Perry.

Lenwood's working career was spent as a truck driver. He began his driving career with North American Van Lines and later retired from Smith Hardware. Lenwood had a deep passion for the outdoors and fishing. Whether standing at the edge of the river, on the bank of a pond or at the coast, the tug of a fish on the line always brought a big smile to Lenwood's face.

Everything for Lenwood revolved around his family and his church. Lenwood worshiped his Lord at Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. When at home, Lenwood enjoyed word search books, watching a good baseball game or wrestling match and the companionship of his canine companion.

A service to celebrate and honor Lenwood's life will be held Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at 3 p.m. from Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with Pastor Mike Parks officiating. Burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery.

Lenwood is survived by his daughter, Thelma Hunter and husband, Richard; and three siblings, Judy Hawkins and husband, Earl, Sandra Pate and husband, Wesley, and Clarence Perry and wife, Phyllis.

Family and friends will be received Sunday following the service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Memorials may be made to Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 145 Free Gospel Road, Snow Hill, N.C., 28580. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
