Mr. Fred "Plum" Tate Jr., 73, Concord, formerly of Goldsboro, passed Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at home.

The celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at St. James AME Zion Church, 206 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C. He will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery, U.S. 117 Bypass, Goldsboro, N.C.

There will be a viewing held Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, from 2 to 7 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m., at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations of Goldsboro.

He was born Jan. 28, 1944, in Wayne County, N.C., to Theresa Hodges and Fred Tate Sr.

He is survived by children, Fred A. Phillips of Concord, N.C., Tanya Peacock (Stefan Stallings) of Maryland and Theresa (Markham) Uzzell of Goldsboro, N.C.; his siblings, Linda Jones of Charlotte, N.C., Hezekiah (Phyllis) Jones Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C., John Henry (Benita) Jones of Goldsboro, N.C., Theresa Jones of Goldsboro, N.C., Wilhelmina (Linwood) Thomas of Goldsboro, N.C., Wilbert (Juanita) Jones of Goldsboro, N.C., Earl (Evelyn) Jones of Philadelphia, Mary (Albert) Cherry of California and B.J. (John) Harper of Virginia; brother-in-law, Wilbert Evans of Dudley, N.C.; grandchildren, Antwon (Tiffany) Peacock, Clintoria Bryant, Travario Uzzell, Tenashia Uzzell, Jessica Peacock, Fred Phillips Jr., Donisha Peacock and Kalib Myers; two great-grandchildren, Zion Peacock and Alannah Peacock; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services of compassion and distinguished class entrusted to J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations of Goldsboro.
