HELEN M. AYCOCK

Helen Mae Mooring Aycock, 94, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Helen was born in Wayne County Sept. 10, 1923, to the late John Vick Mooring and Mary Gertrude Ezzell Mooring. She was married to the late Denzel Wrenn Aycock.

Helen will be remembered for her unconditional love as a wife, mother and grandmother.

So too, will she be remembered for her compassionate spirit and soul and her gift of finding joy in doing random acts of kindness for others.

Family was paramount to Helen, and she loved nothing more than her husband, her children and her grandchildren. She was the embodiment of love as we have been taught by our Savior, Christ Jesus.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, followed by a service to celebrate Helen's life at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary, with Bishop J.W. Bass presiding. Interment will be in Thomas Ruffin Aycock Cemetery.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Tillman of Pikeville, Greta Pelt of Pikeville, Beverly Antley and husband, Charles, of Clayton and Jayme Whitaker and husband, Rob, of Goldsboro; sons, Reed Aycock and wife, Vicki, of Pikeville and Gary Aycock and wife, Nora, of Pikeville; sister, Wilma Monson; brothers, Dan Mooring, Richard Mooring, Ronald Mooring, Charles Mooring and Billy Mooring; 25 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by daughters, Sandra Ridoutt and Debbie Fish; grandson, Kirk Pelt; granddaughter, Aubrey Wilford; and brothers, Ray Mooring, Frank Durwood Mooring, Pete Mooring and Harold Mooring.
