James Jay Jackson, 56, died Thursday at UNC Wayne Health.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he was the son of William "Bud" Jackson of Nashville and the late Betty Adams Jackson.
He is survived by two children.
