Marjorie Strickland Britt, 89, Goldsboro, peacefully passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.

Marjorie was born in Wayne County May 9, 1928, to the late Oscar and Mildred Ellis Strickland. She was married to the late James P. Britt.

Marjorie was a graduate of New Hope School and a 1949 graduate of Goldsboro Hospital Nursing School.

She had worked for 32 years as a registered nurse with civil service at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

Later in life, she could be found at Stonewall's, serving customers with a radiant smile.

Marjorie was a member of Saulston United Methodist Church.

She was the kindest and most loving mother and grandmother and a great friend to everyone. Marjorie will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 29, 2017, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Marjorie's life in the chapel at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Bryan Huffman officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, June Vinson and husband, Danny, of Goldsboro; sons, Tim Robinson and wife, Brenda, of Goldsboro and Joel Robinson and wife, Debbie, of Goldsboro; sisters, Katie Harrelson of Sneads Ferry, Joan Jones of Roanoke, Va., and Faye Franklin of Goldsboro; brother, Merrill Strickland of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Melvin, Ray and Gordon Strickland.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her granddaughter, Brandi Thigpen, her husband, Corey, and their children, Brandon and Olivia, for their daily care and devotion to Marjorie during the last two years as they lived with her.

The family would also like to express its heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Tammy Davis, Regina Swinson and Antonetta Bethea.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Saulston United Methodist Church, 4620 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or Peggy Seegars Senior Center, 2001 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27533.
