Gwenderlyn Knight Oates, 68, Dudley, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.
Gwenderlyn was born in Mount Dora, Fla., Nov. 26, 1948, to the late Charlie and Channie Knight Sr.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Larry D. Oates of the home; two sons, Alphonxo F. Oates and wife, Connedia, of Raleigh and Anthony G. Oates and wife, Clarrisse, of Findlay Ohio; two daughters, Pamela K. Oates of the home and Tomika Oates Kornegay and husband, Kuyodus, of Goldsboro; three brothers, Moses Dawson and wife, Joni, of Dallas, Texas, Charlie Knight Jr. of Greensboro and William Knight of Goldsboro; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Knight Sr.; her mother, Channie Knight; and her infant son, John Lee Oates.
A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
