D.C. Peeler, 87, Goldsboro, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Willow Creek Nursing Home.

D.C. was born in Gaffney, S.C., June 4, 1929, to the late Leroy and Darvey Cromer Peeler.

He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 40 years, Jan Howell Peeler, who preceded him in death Jan. 22, 2017.

D.C. proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and retired after 20 years of service with the rank of technical sergeant.

Along with his wife, he owned and operated the Way-Len Antique Shop at the Wayne-Lenoir County line for many years.

D.C. loved Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was a dedicated and faithful servant.

A service to celebrate D.C.'s life will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Berry House and the Rev. Dallas Spence officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.

D.C. is survived by his daughter, Dyna Jones and husband, Glenn, of San Antonio, Texas; grandson, Ty Jones; granddaughter, Selah Jones; and sister, Doris Ellis of Gaffney, S.C.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Roy Clayton, Mazzie Ree Jones, Ruby Guest, Clyde Peeler, Leatrice Clary, Ola Bell Smalley, Nettie Mae Bort and George Donald "Don" Peeler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church, 206 Country Day Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 23, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
