CLARENCE D. WHITLEY

Clarence Derl Whitley, 83, passed away Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Born in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Eddie and Ruby Whitley, and was the husband of Jean Whitley.
Mr. Whitley was a member of Stancil's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, and was retired from Hevi Duty.
A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. Committal services will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In addition to his wife, Jean, Mr. Whitley is survived by two sons, Ricky Whitley and wife, Jerri, of Goldsboro and Donald Whitley and wife, Sparkle, of Harrington, Del.; a brother, Dwight Whitley and wife, Kathleen, of Kenly; grandchildren, Brandon Whitley, Joanna Shafer, Kyle Whitley, Brittany Whitley, Mikhaela Whitley, Joshua Whitley and Cassidy Whitley; and five great-grandchildren.
