Hilda Wade Hardy, 87, Moss Hill, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017.
Hilda was born Jan. 2, 1930, in Lenoir County to the late Horace Wade and Thelma Tyndall Wade.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Hardy Jr.; daughter, Hope Hardy Jones; and a sister, Ruth Jarman.
Hilda's greatest accomplishment was her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She personified a Proverbs 31 woman.
Quiet, patient and gentle, Hilda always saw the best in everyone. She would often place the needs of others ahead of her own needs.
Hilda enjoyed tending to her yard and gardening. Her rose garden was often the talk of the community.
She loved being at home with a good book, and her happiest moments were when her family was gathered together in her home. Her family has many fond memories of her chocolate milkshakes, fried chicken and Thanksgiving dressing.
A graveside service to celebrate Hilda's life will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. from Westview Cemetery.
Hilda is survived by two daughters, Diane Lynch and husband, Jimmy, and Regina Zane and husband, C.J.; seven grandchildren, Patrick Lynch and wife, Chasity, Jim Lynch and wife, Melissa, Joe Zane, Curt Zane, Sarah Zane, Adam Jones and Erin Williams and husband, Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Lynch, Grayson Lynch, Hardy Lynch and Emma Williams; son-in-law, Carl Jones; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Avery.
Hilda was looking forward to her family growing with the upcoming birth of her great-granddaughter.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home of LaGrange.
