MAGDALINE SASSER SUROVICH

June 2, 1924-April 5, 2017

Mary Magdaline Sasser Surovich, Mount Olive area resident in the Thunder Swamp community, passed away Wednesday morning, April 5, at the home of a nephew in Wendell.

A lifetime member of Thunder Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church, she had been a bookkeeper, having worked for a total of 46 combined years with Hatcher-Smith Motor Co. and Scott and Jones Inc., both reputable firms of which she was proud to be associated.

Preceded in death by her husband, Felix "Slim" Surovich; her parents, Sam L. and Cottie Vann Sasser; and her siblings to include three infant brothers, Joseph Sasser, James Sasser and Talmadge Sasser; two sisters, Sarah Sasser Fields and Nell Sasser Dixon; and two other brothers, Dwight Moody Sasser and Baxter Sasser; she is survived by their families, which includes many nieces and nephews who that, while she and Mr. Slim had no children of their own, she was quite influential in their upbringing.

It was the wishes of Mrs. Surovich that her funeral service be private. She will be buried in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, alongside her husband and parents following a graveside service Saturday, April 8. The Rev. Mike Harrell and the Rev. Jonathan Altman will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, it was her desire that memorial gifts be directed to the Salvation Army, locally at 610 N. William St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

Arrangements with Tyndall Funeral Home.
