RUTH CASSON TILTON

Ruth Casson Tilton passed away Monday, Oct. 31, in San Antonio, Texas.

She was born in Cook County, Ill., to Dillard Homer Casson and Dovie May Bridges Casson.

She was raised in Goldsboro, N.C., and graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1940.

She was married to the late James Elbert Tilton of Grantham.

As an Air Force couple, they were stationed in Mississippi, Moses Lake, Wash., Phoenix, Ariz., the Philippines, England, Washington, D.C., and many more assignments, and retired in San Antonio, Texas.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lyndal Casson Riggs of Goldsboro.

She was survived by her son, Thomas Bert Tilton and his wife, Heidi, of Santa Fe, N.M.; a niece, Linda Riggs Radford and husband, Bruce, of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews, including Teresa Kennedy of Deep Run, N.C.

Burial was at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. She was placed next to her beloved husband, Jim.

The inscription on her grave marker reads, "Dad's best friend and love. A guiding light for us all."
