ROY JOHN PARKER III

May 30, 1948-Nov. 12, 2016

Roy John Parker III passed away peacefully at home Saturday morning, Nov. 12, 2016.

Roy was born in Goldsboro, graduated from Goldsboro High School and also attended Atlantic Christian College.

He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War.

For many years Roy was a familiar face in local banking, from Wachovia to Triangle Bank, and most recently as Goldsboro city executive at The Little Bank.

As his wide circle of friends will attest, he never met a stranger, and was quick to light up any gathering with a funny story.

After the love of his life, Barbara, his children and grandchildren were always the center of Roy's universe, filling his days with joy. The grandchildren will have many lasting and fun-filled memories of Papa at Atlantic Beach, where he loved to get away with family and friends.

His next love was First Presbyterian Church, where he was a loyal and faithful elder.

He was especially proud of his beautiful rose garden at home.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara West Parker; his father, Roy J. Parker Jr.; his daughter, Matilda Faircloth, husband, Will, and children, Parker and Henry; his son, Roy John Parker IV "John," wife, Katherine, and children, Matilda and John V; his son, James F. Harper II "Jay" and son, Trace; and his sisters, Linda Troy and husband, Eric, and Sandra Powell and husband, Al.

He was predeceased by his mother, Anna Duke Parker.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Memorials Committee, First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro.

Memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends following the service in McChesney Hall or at other times, at the residence.
