MARION 'PETE' BARNES
Marion Edmund "Pete" Barnes Sr., 84, of 1295 Rosewood Road, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016 peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his biological parents, George Best and Gertrude Frederick, along with his second family, Joseph and Burlah Barnes, and one sister, Lubert M. Barnes.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted wife of the home, Bessie L. Barnes; one daughter, Delicia L. Barnes of Winterville, N.C.; three sons, Marion E. (Sonya) Barnes Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., Phillip G. (LaTonya Y.) Barnes of Goldsboro, and Richard C. (Lyndel) of Raleigh; one brother, Clearance J. Barnes of Goldsboro, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at House of Prayer, 958 Sleepy Creek Road, with a viewing one hour prior to service. Pastor Moses H. Darden will be officiating.
Entombment will be held at J.J. Barnes Cemetery, 1257 Rosewood Road, Goldsboro.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southeastern Cancer Care, Cures for the Colors.
Professional funeral arrangements are entrusted to McIntyre Funeral Home of Goldsboro.
