DORIS NEAL PARKS

Doris Neal Parks, 90, Goldsboro, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Doris was born in Wayne County July 19, 1926, to the late Marion and Laura Barnes Neal. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Osborne Parks.

Doris began her career with Blue Cross Blue Shield as a sales representative, and later became the regional director, and retired after 32 years of service.

Following retirement, Doris was planning to work with the North Carolina State Grange for a short time, but continued to work with them, retiring after 30 years of service.

Doris was a member of Wayne County Grange and Wayne County Farm Bureau, and was also a past member of the Wayne County Sunday School Association.

She had volunteered for six years with Wayne Memorial Hospital, and had worked with many 4-H clubs in our community.

Doris had a great love for WHFL Gospel Television in Goldsboro, and proudly supported them along with her husband for many years.

Doris loved Northview Christian Church, and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life.

She was the kindest and most loving mother and grandmother and a great friend to everyone. She will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.

A service celebrating Doris' life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Purvis and the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Private entombment will be held in the mausoleum at Wayne Memorial Park.

Doris is survived by her son, Glenn Parks; grandson, Glenn Todd Parks and wife, Melinda; great-grandson, Wesley Taylor Parks; godchildren, Jenise Kirby and Lucretia Creech; and sister, Ann Weaver.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Neal, Robert Neal, Earl Neal, Durwood Neal and William Landis Neal, and sister, Audrey Neal.
