GEORGE EDWARD GRAHAM

Feb. 1, 1936-June 23, 2016

George Edward Graham, Pikeville, N.C., formerly of Tuckerton, N.J., passed away June 23 at Helping Hands Assisted Living.

He was the son of the late George H. and Eva P. Graham, and the husband of Peggy J. Graham.

He was also preceded in death by a son, George E. Graham Jr. and a brother, Larry Graham.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with pastor Steve Holder officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

George was employed with the International Brotherhood of Electricians for 17 years and with Boilermaker International Union for 21 years.

He was always a hard worker at those companies; he also cut and sold firewood, and worked along with his father hauling gravel and landscaping area lawns and as an outdoorsman, and had for more than 20 years, been a member of Little Eagle Gunning Club.

George attended Bethel Church.

After George retired, he honored a promise he had made to his wife, Peggy, that they would retire to her home state of North Carolina. He and Peggy made Snow Hill, N.C., their home in 1997.

George settled into their new home, kept himself busy and made many new and wonderful friends.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by a son, Jeffrey Smith of Pink Hill; three daughters, Jennifer Kerrigan and husband, Kevin, of Millsboro, Del., Dianna Chadwick and husband, Douglas, of New Bern and Vickey White and husband, Tommy, of Grifton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Amelia and Fred Lopez of Florida and Joyce and Bob Swanhart of Connecticut; 12 grandchildren; 13 great -grandchildren; and 56 nieces and nephews.

His friends, Scott and Jennifer Christman and Dave and Cindy Long, always made themselves available by lending a helping hand or fixing something in a time of need.

The family would like to thank the many friends for all the prayers, visits, cards and support that was extended to the family. A special thanks to Community Home Care and Hospice and Helping Hands Hospice for the care they gave George and the family.
