Amber Crumpler Kornegay, 87, longtime resident of Mount Olive, passed away Friday, May 13, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington.

She was the daughter of the late Paul W. Crumpler and Beatrice Mercer Crumpler Whitley, and the widow of Norwood M. Kornegay.

As a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive and its choir, she was faithful with attendance and service for as long as her health allowed.

She was retired from the bookkeeping department at Southern Bank and Trust Co. with 25 years of service.

Mrs. Kornegay is survived by twin sons and their wives, Glen and Carol Kornegay of Murphy, N.C., and Lin and Sheila Kornegay of Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Kathy Kornegay Ellis of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Krisha McCoy and husband, Kevin, Jenny Speece and husband, Jay, and Matthew Kornegay and wife, Katie; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James "Buck" and Pearl Crumpler of Mount Olive and Jack and Lois Crumpler of Marshville; two sisters, Judy Williams of Pikeville and Rhonda Lochte of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kornegay will be held Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. Dennis Atwood, and followed by burial in Maplewood Cemetery of Mount Olive.

Visitation with the family will be during the hour before the service.
