Jerry Uriah Britt, 62, Mount Olive, passed away at Wayne Memorial Hospital Monday, April 4, 2016, surrounded by his family.

He was born May 1, 1953, to Wellie J. and Cleo Joyner Britt.

Mr. Britt was a simple man, who was a loving, kind husband, father, son, uncle and brother, who never met a stranger.

As a businessman, Mr. Britt owned and operated his own successful CPA practice in Mount Olive for more than 30 years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Olive, although he attended Thunder Swamp Pentecostal Holiness church with his family.

He was also a past member and officer of the Mount Olive Exchange Club, the Executive Club and Smith Chapel Volunteer Fire Department.

A funeral to celebrate the life of this wonderful man, friend to many and businessman will be held at Thunder Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church Friday, April 8 at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jonathan Aultman, Bishop Jim Whitfield and the Rev. Jim Willoughby. Remarks will also be shared by Mr. Michael McDonald.

Visitation will be Thursday night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and at other times, at the home.

Mr. Britt is survived by his wife, Angela Whitfield Britt; his twin sons, John Whitfield Britt and James Livingston Britt of the home; his father, Wellie J. Britt of Mount Olive; his sister, Sandra B. Jones of Raleigh; a special nephew, Travis Lee Jones and his wife, Allison, of Charleston, S.C.; a niece, Britt J. and her husband, Quent Byerley, and their children, Win and Liv of Charlotte; a sister-in-law and her husband, Phyllis W. and Rex Lewis of Mount Olive; his mother-in-law, Hetty M. Whitfield of Mount Olive; as well as a host of friends and other family members.

Jerry was predeceased by his mother, Sally Cleo Joyner Britt, as well as his maternal grandparents, Uriah and Penny Joyner; his paternal grandparents, Charlie Livingston and Lilly Mae Capps Britt; a brother-in-law, William Stanley Jones; and his father-in-law, James "J.G." Whitfield.

Interment will take place at Maplewood Cemetery after the service.
