Thomas Lynwood Poole, 78, Goldsboro, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
A private burial will be held at a later date at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro, N.C.
Tom was born in Johnston County Oct. 29, 1937, to the late William and Louise Pounds Poole.
Tom retired from the United States Air Force and Firestone/Bridgestone Corp. in Wilson, and was a member of Springhill Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann Hawley Poole; sons, Graham Poole (Vanessa) of England and Dan Poole (Jill) of Goldsboro; daughters, Mandy Luckenbach (David) of Wildwood, Mo., and Paula Davis Bayer (Jason) of Bluffton, S.C.; four granddaughters, Lauren and Emily Poole of Ohio and Anna and Paige Luckenbach of Missouri; sisters, Janice Hinnant (Rudolph) of Kenly, Brenda Dennis (Lin) of Tennessee and Patti Secrest of Charlotte; brothers, Jerry Strickland of Wendell, William Poole (Dorothy) of O'Fallon, Ill., and David Poole (Robin) of Indian Trail, N.C.; and stepmother, Ruby Poole of Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Jacqueline Wood, and his sister, Betty Sue Poole.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
