Michael Alston Mitchell Sr., 58, Goldsboro, passed away quietly in his sleep Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at his home in Rosewood.
He was born in Wayne County Oct. 2, 1957, to Cleone Ellis of Apex and the late Bobby Glen Mitchell.
Michael was a 1979 graduate of North Carolina State University, and was a proud Wolfpack fan.
He was working with the Department of Agriculture as a field representative in the eastern part of North Carolina.
Michael's passion was golf, and if it was a beautiful day, he enjoyed being on the links sharing shots and laughter with his friends.
A service celebrating Michael's life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Pine Forest United Methodist Church Cemetery on the family plot, with the Rev. Madison Hankal presiding.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by his daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Mitchell and husband, Mark Antonitis; son, Michael Alston Mitchell Jr.; the mother of his children, Becky Mitchell; sister, Michelle Mitchell Abbott and husband, Jeff; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, including his cousin and special friend, Allen Mitchell.
