Thomas C. Barfield Sr., of 960 Old Mount Olive Highway, Dudley, transitioned on Thursday at his home.
Born in Wayne County, he is the son of the late Walter Barfield Sr. and Katie Kornegay Barfield and husband to Everlena Ingram Barfield.
The life celebration service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Luke Church Disciple Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, Mount Olive, with pastor Kenneth R. Freeman officiating.
Entombment will be in Carver Cemetery.
He is survived by two children, Thomas C. Barfield Jr. of Raleigh and Shawan B. Woodard of Wilson; and a sister, Lela Mae King, of Faison.
The viewing will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will be present from 6 to 7 p.m. to receive friends and at other times at the residence.
Garris Funeral Home is serving the family.
