Hampton J. Merritt, 82, Wallace, died Thursday at Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington.
Funeral will be at Byrd's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Rose Hill Saturday at noon, with the Rev. James Faison III officiating. Burial will be at Boone Family Cemetery in Magnolia.
He was married to Bettye Estelle Merritt of Wallace.
He is survived by two daughters.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home of Rose Hill.
