Helen Whitley Sutton, 89, Henderson, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 3, 2015, at the Senior Citizens Home in Henderson.
Helen was born in Goldsboro March 3, 1926, to the late William Preston Whitley and Sallie Edwards Whitley.
Along with her husband, the late Hubert Norris Sutton, Helen owned and operated Southern Auto Parts in Henderson for many years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Henderson.
Helen's warmth generosity and kind spirit were well known and cherished by those she loved and encountered throughout her life.
A service celebrating Helen's life will be held by the graveside Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, at 2 p.m. in Willow Dale Cemetery, with Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating.
Helen is survived by her children, Preston Whitley Sutton and wife, Frances Bobbitt Sutton, of Cape Carteret and Bobbie Sutton Hubbard and husband, William Keith Hubbard, of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Helen Elizabeth Bartley and husband, Joel, of Cary, Erin Katherine Hubbard of New York, N.Y., William Andrew Hubbard of Arlington, Va., Patrick Ashley Sutton and wife, Tracy, of Youngsville and Tracey Louise Sutton of Towson, Md.; and great-grandchildren, Will Bartley, Jack Bartley, Maddie Sutton and Alyx Sutton.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to First Baptist Church Youth Ministry, 205 W. Winder St., Henderson, N.C., 27536, or Vance County Schools, 1724 Graham Ave., Henderson, N.C., 27536.
