YVONNE MITCHELL EVANS

July 30, 1939-May 31, 2015

Yvonne Mitchell Evans, 75, Princeton, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Duke University Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Yvonne was born in Wayne County July 30, 1939, to the late Ed and Esther Beasley Mitchell.

She had worked with Barnes Jewelers for many years, and also owned and operated Evans Farm Nursery in Princeton.

Her life was filled with humility, kindness and a love for others that she displayed every time she smiled.

She dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord. Yvonne was a member of Oakland Community Church.

She enjoyed life, especially her husband, children and grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at 1 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Phil Bowden officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.

Yvonne is survived by her husband of 55 years, Durwood L. Evans Sr.; sons, Durwood Evans Jr. and wife, Dorothy, of Princeton and Scott Evans and wife, Karen, of Princeton; grandchildren, Luke Evans and Jordan Evans; sisters, Carol Mitchell and husband, Billy, of Goldsboro, Joyce "Tootsie" Cooke of Rosewood and Pauline Faircloth and husband, Edmond, of Goldsboro; brothers, Benton Mitchell and wife, Kay, of Goldsboro and Leon "Doodle" Mitchell and wife, Kathleen, of Goldsboro; and sister-in-law, Katie Mitchell of Goldsboro.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, L.E. Mitchell.
