HARRY WELLS BLANCHARD

Harry Wells Blanchard, 72, Seven Springs, passed away early Sunday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Harry was born in Newport News, Va., Aug. 13, 1942, to the late William Horace Blanchard and Ruth Aillene Wells Blanchard.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years.

For many years, Harry was the department head for the Aviation Maintenance Technology Department at Wayne Community College.

Harry was a member of Seven Springs United Methodist Church.

A service celebrating Harry's life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, at Seven Springs United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry Smith and the Rev. Phyllis Vail officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall at the church.

Harry is survived by his wife, Anne Waters Blanchard; stepdaughters, Cindy Hill of Timberlake and Dawn Shappell and husband, Steve, of Walnut Creek; stepgrandchildren, Daniel Hill, Victoria Hill, Elizabeth Shappell and Stephanie Shappell; his twin brother, Larry Blanchard of Palm Springs, Calif.; sister-in-law, Sandra Crews Blanchard of Newport News, Va.; niece, Audrey Blanchard of Newport News, Va.; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Carolyn Mozingo and Betty Lou Rhodes.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Horace Blanchard.
