Oct. 3, 1938-Dec. 15, 2014

Barbara Jean Flowers Ramsey, a precious angel, entered into eternal rest Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, in Douglasville, Ga.

She was born Oct. 3, 1938, in Goldsboro, N.C., to the late Robert Flowers and Nora Flowers Hamilton.

Barbara was a 1957 graduate of Dillard High School in Goldsboro, N.C.

She was a member of Shaw Temple African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Smyrna, Ga.

Her impeccable work ethics earned her the highest level of trust and respect among her co-workers. After more than 30 years of diligent service, she retired from U.S. Repeating Arms (Winchester-Olin) in New Haven, Conn. She later relocated to Douglasville, Ga.

Family devotion was one of her greatest assets. She was very people-oriented, and always enjoyed being around her family and friends. She was well known for her amazing cooking skills.

Her favorite pastime was reading her Bible daily. Barbara loved to sing and dance, and enjoyed listening to a variety of music genres.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory and legacy of love three daughters, Monica (Peaches) Ramsey of Douglasville, Ga., Colleen Rene Estes (Cecil) of North Haven, Conn., and Rochelle Ramsey Reveron (Jose) of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Branden Ramsey, Chaz Foreman, Ariel Estes, Cecil (Che') Estes and Tyler Barnes; three great-grandchildren, Jordin Foreman, Ramsey Foreman and Cyar Ramsey; two sisters, Ethel Sampson and Ernestine Best of Goldsboro, N.C.; two brothers, William Flowers of Campbell, Calif., and Robert Wynn (Gwen) of Winston-Salem; a brother-in-law, William Newsome, whom she felt was her brother, of Waterbury, Conn.; and a sister-in-law, Florease Flowers of New Haven, Conn.

Barbara shared an endearing and loving bond between her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, many of whom she talked with daily, and all of them brought joy to her life.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at First African Baptist Church, 803 Harris St., Goldsboro, with the Rev. Keith Newsome as eulogist. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 U.S. 117 South, Dudley, N.C.

A public viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
