MALCOLM GRAHAM 'MACK' BASS

Died Nov. 30, 2014

Malcolm Graham "Mack" Bass, 85, Kinston, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

Born to the late Charlie and Ava Lane Bass, he was a native of Eureka, and was the 10th of 14 children.

Mr. Bass was a wonderful and loving husband, father, uncle, brother and grandfather. He provided help, care and wise advice to anyone who asked. He was always counted on to tell you the truth, and was the solid foundation for his children and family.

Mr. Bass was a well-respected man and an extremely talented painter. His talents and abilities were praised and admired. He taught and passed on his painting expertise to two of his children and anyone else who wanted to learn.

Mr. Bass was also a serious dog lover, who had many canine friends over the years.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Odom Bass; his children, Dolly Bass of Snow Hill, Jackie Hamm and husband, Kenneth, of Goldsboro, Patsy Williams of Moss Hill, Terry Bass and husband, Bob, of Eureka, Eddy Bass and Jean Phillips of Stantonsburg and Susie Pate and husband, Melvin, of Goldsboro; stepdaughter, Frances Faulkner of Kinston; a brother, Emerson "Fat" Bass of Eureka; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews

Mr. Bass was preceded in death by six sisters and six brothers; a son, Johnny Mack Bass; five grandchildren, Bobby Lee Williams, Fabien Gene Williams, Stacy Eugene Hamm, Kenneth Tracy Hamm and William Murphy Vaughn III; and a great-grandson, Christopher Riley Smith.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at Eureka Cemetery, with the Rev. Jackie Hamm officiating.
