Edward Brown Sr., 91, resident of the Brian Center, peacefully departed this mortal stay Saturday in Wayne Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 5, 1923, in Wayne County to James Preston Brown and Lou Pearl Cox Brown.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jennette Hamilton Brown.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Guiding Star United Holy Church. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park North.
He is survived by his wife, Ella Coley Brown; his sons Edward (Angela) Brown Jr. of Newport News, Va., Horace Jones of Washington, D.C., and William Lee (Beatrice) Brown of Nashville, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Haskins Funeral Home. At other times, the family will receive friends at home of his niece, Melinda Coley, 504 Hare Road, Goldsboro, where it will assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
