SANDRA L. BURNS

Sandra Louise Bruns, 75, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Sandra was born in Toledo, Ohio, Jan. 16, 1939, to the late Robert R. and Edna Mitchell Stewart. She was married to the late Robert "Bob" Bruns.
Sandra served as the nursing supervisor at Wayne Memorial Hospital, retiring in 2004 after 27 years of service.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she served as treasurer for the WELCA, and was a member of the handbell choir.
A memorial service for Sandra will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Bill Ordelt presiding.
The family will greet friends following the service at the church.
Sandra is survived by her daughters, Robin Best of Mount Olive and Wendy B. Upchurch and friend, David Robson, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Bailey Upchurch of Charlotte, Corey Upchurch of Fort Benning, Ga., Chris Best of Mount Olive and Kyle Best of Mount Olive; sisters, Ginny Bradley of Brooksville, Fla., and Peggi Dubendorfer and husband, Gary, of Clearwater, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jerry Best.
The family would like to express its appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Iwen Chang and the staff at SMOC. Love and heartfelt thanks are also expressed to the nurses and staff on the fourth floor at Wayne Memorial Hospital and Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
