Robert Earl Grant Sr., 68, Goldsboro, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Robert was born in Greene County Jan 7, 1946, to the late Richard and Margaret Belcher Grant.

Robert was a graduate of North Carolina State University.

He served his country in the United States Army National Guard, where he retired as a lieutenant colonel.

Robert was the owner and operator of Lee Chemical Supply in Goldsboro for more than 30 years.

Robert was very family oriented, and especially enjoyed watching his children perform in athletics over the years.

He was a very generous individual, which included his love for animals wherein he served as past president of the Humane Society.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, from 1 to 2 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Goldsboro, followed by a service at 2 p.m. at the church, with Bishop J.W. Bass officiating. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery in Farmville, N.C.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Jenkins Grant; sons, Robert Earl Grant Jr. of Goldsboro, Lee Grant and wife, Sommer, of Wilmington and Brian Grant and fianceé, Kate, of Raleigh; daughter, Jennifer Grant Wiggins and husband, Adam, of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Nolan Wiggins, Nora Wiggins, Maris Grant, Carlee Grant and Leighton Grant; and sisters, Ella Moore and husband, Glenn, of Lumberton and Kay Nycz and husband, Jeff, of Hampstead.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Grant.
