Ruby Weaver Deaver, 87, died Sunday in Jacksonville, Fla.

Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late William and Lois Bizzell Weaver, and wife of the late Leslie Wayne Weaver and the late Johnnie Deaver.

She was a member of Mount Olive Free Will Baptist Church, and was formerly employed with Southern Bell as an operator for 30 years.

A service to celebrate Ruby's life will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with pastor James Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Family members will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ruby is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Greg Pate of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Faye Edwards of Goldsboro and Carol Chavous of Augusta, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Dylan Pate and Dawson Pate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to a hospice care of your choice.
