Louis Rhodes Boyd Jr., 82, Goldsboro, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at Willow Creek Nursing Home.
Mr. Boyd was born in Syracuse, N.Y., Nov. 23, 1931, to the late Louis Rhodes Boyd Sr. and Lillian Grace Cinnamon Boyd.
He lived his dream proudly serving as a B-52 gunner in the United States Air Force. Mr. Boyd will always be remembered for his patriotism. He protected his country and her allies while serving during the Vietnam War. Mr. Boyd's valor and skill were recognized with numerous decorations.
No formal service will be held, and his interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret L. Boyd; daughter, Marylou Boyd of Goldsboro; son, Richard Louis Boyd and wife, Jacqueline, of North Syracuse, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Disabled American Veterans, 112 N. Patrick St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
