FRANK STANTON FARR JR.

Sept. 26, 1929-Oct. 28, 2014

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." II Timothy 4:6-8

Frank Stanton Farr Jr., 85, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Frank was born in Lanett, Ala., Sept. 26, 1929, to the late Frank S. Farr Sr. and Emma Sue Milton Farr.

He protected his country and her allies while serving in the United States Air Force.

Frank's patriotism and skill were recognized by his many opportunities to display the United States flag.

Frank was a graduate of Auburn University, and was a proud War Eagle.

He was an instructor at Wayne Community College for many years.

We were blessed by the love of a truly honorable, compassionate and humble man, who touched the lives of many people, including many students and teachers.

Frank was a faithful member of Falling Creek United Methodist Church, and served the church in many capacities, including Sunday school superintendent, youth Sunday school teacher, chairman of the pastor parish relations committee and as a lay speaker.

Even in his declining health, Frank continued to exemplify God's love and a heart for serving others, and desired the opportunity to go back to his church and worship with his church family.

A service celebrating Frank's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Falling Creek United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Patrick Muston and Dean Bingham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church fellowship hall.

Frank is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pat Farr; stepdaughter, Sue Hill and husband, David, of Goldsboro; stepson, Henry Brian Hood and wife, Sharon, of Tyrone, Ga.; grandchildren, Stacey Hood of Atlanta, Ga., Brent Hood and wife, Mary Ellen, of Wilson, Morgan Hill and fiancée, Brittany Sutton, of Goldsboro and Jordan Hill and friend, Scott Walker, of Goldsboro; sister, Martha Ann Zimmerman and husband, Blaine, of Florida; his brother, David Farr and wife, Joyce, of Alabama; niece, Ann Sapp and husband, Wayne; and his nephews, Jim Dunn and Alan Farr.

He is also survived by his daughter, Rhonda Eason and husband, Rusty; granddaughter, Brandy Casteen; and several other great-grandchildren.
