EARL D. GRIMES

Earl Dwight Grimes, 69, Suttontown community in Mount Olive, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 29, 2014, at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at Grimes Family Cemetery beside the Grimes homeplace, 98 Coker Store Road, Mount Olive. Officiating will be the Rev. Glen McCullen.

The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive Saturday, Nov. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. and at other times at the residence.

Mr. Grimes, a lifelong farmer, had served in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne as a paratrooper.

He was a founding member of Suttontown Rescue.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Turner Grimes; a son, Anthony Earl Grimes and wife, Kimberly, of Mount Olive; a daughter, Bridgette Grimes Bass and husband, Kenny, of Mount Olive; a brother, Herbert Grimes of Mansfield, Texas; a sister, Martha Gail Grimes Hood and husband, Manfred, of Grantham; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Braxton A. and Nita Chestnutt Grimes; two brothers, Urban Faber Grimes and Cordell Allison Grimes; and a sister, Anita Jayne Grimes Waller.
