Mrs. Geraldine Smith Jones, 73, 109 Ballance Road, passed Monday morning, Oct. 20, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. James Church of Christ, 514 Memorial Church Road, Fremont, N.C. She will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, 303 E. North St., Fremont, N.C.
There will be a visitation held Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, from 3 to 6:30 p.m., with the family arriving at 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 S. Goldsboro St., Fremont, N.C.
She was born in Wayne County, N.C., Feb. 18, 1941, to James and Lula Smith.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Smith, and brother, James Edward Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Devone Jones; three children, Barbara Gibson, Ray Jones and Tony Jones; and three grandchildren, Tiffany Gibson, Bryson Gibson and Brittany Jones.
She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Lula S. Smith, and siblings, Willie Smith, Chester Smith, Freddie Smith, Herlene S. Lewis and Bernice S. Reece, Albert Smith and Benjamin Smith.
She was the founder of Norwayne Alumni Association.
