Lewis McNeill "Mac" Stewart, 68, Cape Carteret, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, in Banner Elk, N.C.

Mac was born Feb. 25, 1946, in Lenoir County to the late Franklin Louis Stewart and Doris Ivey Stewart.

Mac attended Wingate Junior College, and later graduated from Atlantic Christian College.

Mac was a standout baseball player in high school and college.

A man of varied interests, Mac's working career included periods of working in insurance and real estate, and he was probably best known for his work as a musician.

A lover of music, Mac was a lifelong musician, who owned and operated Mac Stewart Music for many years, and produced a beach music album, "Shag Is Back."

He was most comfortable outdoors whether playing golf, fishing or out on the water in his boat. A jokester, Mac appreciated a good joke and making people laugh.

Mac had a special place in his heart for people with disabilities, and admired those with a fighting spirit to persevere and contribute to the betterment of our world.
