RUBY USHER BLANCHARD

Ruby Usher Blanchard, 96, peacefully passed away Oct. 19, 2014, at Parish Family Care Home in Warsaw, N.C.

Ruby was born in Rose Hill, N.C., July 14, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Alice Usher.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Francis "Buddy" Usher, Marvin Usher, Charlie "C.J." Usher, Edwin "Puggie" Usher, Earl Usher, Betty Panter, Mae Dee Medizer and Lula Blanchard, and the love of her life, her husband of 27 years, William "Bill" Blanchard.

She is survived by her siblings, Hallie Usher, Wilber "Dude" Usher and Howard Usher all of Magnolia, N.C., and honorary sister, Mary Eunice Blanchard of Warsaw, N.C.

She is also survived by her children, Carol Boyette and husband, Joe, Geraldine "Geri" Johnson and husband, Dean, Barbara Sholar and Greg Blanchard all of Warsaw, N.C., and Sue Sykes of Wallace, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Pam Boyette Grady, David, Dan and Drew Johnson, Michelle Boyette Bates, Brian Sykes, Gary and Amy Sholar, Josh and Amber Blanchard; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A special thank you to the staff of Parish Family Care Home of Warsaw, Sharon Parish, Betty Sanderson, Tina Taylor, Courtney Melton, Myra Monge and Danielle Starling for the love, care and dignity given to Ruby during her final years.

Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Community Funeral Home in Warsaw, N.C.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. J.B. Helms and the Rev. Gregory McGarvey Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Carlton United Methodist Church in Warsaw, N.C. Burial to follow at Devotional Gardens in Warsaw, N.C.

Prior to her death, Ruby requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Carlton United Methodist Church, 973 Carlton Chapel Church Road, Warsaw, N.C., 28398.
