DOUGLAS DELANO REGISTER

Douglas Delano Register, Goldsboro, passed away Sunday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 72.
Douglas was born July 9, 1942, the son of Eunice Herring and Archie Allen Register.
He was employed by Seymour Johnson Air Force Base for many years prior to his retirement, and spent his later years as a transporter for various local auto dealerships.
In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard Franklin Register and Cecil Keith Register; sisters, Dorothy Register Hankins and Iris Register Johnson; and his daughter, Sharon Dale Register.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Barbara Reese Register; daughter, Karen Michelle "Katie" Register; son, Joel Allen Register; granddaughter, Mylie Grace Hatfield; grandson, Lucas Allen Register all of Goldsboro; brothers, Omer Allen Register and wife, Dorothy Ann, of Raeford, Jerry Daly Register and wife, Linda, of Castle Hayne and Richard Worth Register and wife, Shirley, of LaGrange; sisters, Carole Register Morgenstern of Richmond and Elizabeth Register Watson of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at the Hatch House at Old Waynesborough Park Sunday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jason K. Boyd, Dr. I-Wen Chang and the staff of Southeastern Medical Oncology Center for their compassionate care and service in recent months.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
