Carol Combs Stroud, 66, Goldsboro, passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Carol was born in Wayne County Jan. 26, 1948, to Esther Hare Combs Hobby of Goldsboro and the late Isaac Combs.

She had been employed as a developmental technician at O'Berry Center.

Carol was a fun loving and adventurous woman with a positive attitude and a great smile for everyone.

She enjoyed music, dancing, gardening, the beach, shopping and going out to eat. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandson, Cole.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Carol's life at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Leslie Sams and husband, Roger, of Pikeville; sister, Betty Dietz of Goldsboro; brothers, Bobby Hare and wife, Shirley, of Mechanicsville, Va., and Edward Hare and wife, Gloria, of Fuquay-Varina; grandson, Cole Sams; nieces, Angie Turnage and husband, Dean, Sherry Parnell and husband, Kenneth, and Natalie Francis and husband, Mike; nephews, Todd Hare and wife, Lisa, and Keith Hare; several great-nieces and nephews; as well as a special K-9 friend, Miss Saucey.

She is also survived by a daughter, Robin Rouse, and her sons, Wayne and Shane Rouse.

In addition to her father, Carol was preceded in death by Ophelia and Paul Southerland, who loved Carol as their own, and an infant son, Anthony.
