Mrs. Rachel Elizabeth Pittman Edens, 68, resident of Ocean Isle Beach, passed away Sunday evening, Sept. 7, at the home of her daughter near Mount Olive following a brief battle with cancer.
She was a retired hairdresser, and worshipped at Jennie's Branch Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. at Barlow Vista Baptist Church Cemetery, 22340 U.S. 17 North in Hampstead, N.C. Officiating will be the Rev. Robbie Stephens and the Rev. Paul Rose.
Visitation will be at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeneen and Rudy Potts of Mount Olive; her late husband's children, Doctors Dave and Neva Bartholomew of Chapel Hill and Fletcher and Kristy Edens of Hickory; her grandchildren, Blair and Bethany Tadlock, Eden and Meg Bartholomew and Weston and Reid Edens; a brother, Jimmy Pittman of Lumberton; three sisters, Marilyn Williford of Ocean Isle Beach and Janice Lewis and Joyce Evans both of Lumberton; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Marvin Edens; an infant son, David Irish; her parents, Graham and Pearl Pittman; a brother, Ernest Pittman; a sister, Glenda Taylor; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia E. Capps.
