J. KENNETH CREECH

James Kenneth Creech, 90, of the Bucklesberry community of LaGrange, passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Kenneth was born May 17, 1924, in Lenoir County to the late Leslie R. Creech and Iris Hill Creech.

A Bronze Star recipient, Kenneth proudly served his country during World War II with the United States Army.

He was a longtime farmer in the Bucklesberry community, and enjoyed the simple pleasure of watching things grow on the farm and in the garden.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Kenneth was a true sportsman, most comfortable outdoors, on the water or in the woods.

He was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church and Bucklesberry Ruritan Club.

A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Flynn officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Westview Cemetery.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 67 years, Estelle Sutton Creech; son, Pat Creech and wife, Darlene; two grandsons, Chris Creech and wife, Lucretia, and Tony Creech and wife, Christina; four great-grandchildren, Colby Creech, Fawn Creech, Brianna Creech and Heather Creech; brother, Roger Creech and wife, Cora Lee; and a sister, Jo Williams.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by four siblings, Raymond Creech, Geneva Hardy, Edna Baker and Esther Williams.

The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service of remembrance.
