Minister Larry Donnell Ruffin, 58, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Rip," 102 Barrier Place, Pikeville, N.C., departed his earthly life Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at his residence.

Larry was born in Wayne County June 22, 1956. He was born to the late Mrs. Helen Lassiter Ruffin and Mr. Allen Lee Ruffin Sr.

He received his education in the public school system of Wayne County, and he attended and graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in Pikeville, N.C., and in the class of 1974.

He served as a minister at The New Beginnings Church in Arapahoe, N.C.

As a truck driver, minister Ruffin had worked for several trucking companies. Currently, he was employed with Variety Wholesalers in Henderson, N.C.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Goldsboro Raleigh Assembly Church, 214 W. Hooks River Road, Goldsboro, N.C. Pastor Harry Wolford will officiate, and apostle Kenneth Vaughn will serve as the presider.

Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery South, 2925 U.S. 117 South, Dudley, N.C.

Also, a public viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Apostle D. L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C. The family will be present from 5 to 6 p.m. to receive other family members and friends.

Minister Larry leaves to treasure his precious and loving memories to his wife of the home, Mrs. Marva Ruffin; three children, Ms. Resie Graham, Mr. Sheldon Ruffin and Mr. Akeem Ruffin (Dominique) all of Goldsboro, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a godson, little Jeremiah L. Ruffin; a sister, Annie J. Artis; two brothers, Allen L. Ruffin Jr. and James E. Ruffin (Patricia); four sisters-in-law, Linda Artis (Garry), Yvonne Dunn (Jackie), Gloria Lewis (Don) and Erma Tyson all of Goldsboro, N.C.; eight brothers-in-law, Raphel Newsome (Doris), Donnie Newsome of Wilson, N.C., Eugene Newsome and Willie Newsome of Maryland, El Paso Newsome (Pearl), Larry Newsome (Angie), Garry Newsome and Leon Newsome of Macon, Ga.; three lifelong friends, apostle Kenneth Vaughn, elder Eddie Raiford and apostle George Dixon of Charlotte, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, the family and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Marva Newsome Ruffin, 102 Barrier Place, Pikeville, N.C., at 9:45 a.m. in preparation for the funeral possession.

Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
