Leeanna Coor Cox, 92, Goldsboro, N.C., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014.
Visitation will be held at First African Baptist Church, 803 Harris St., from 4 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m.
Funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at 2 p.m. at First African Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park South.
Leeanna was born and educated in Wayne County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walker Maryland and Claretta Parks Coor; husband, Samuel L. Cox Sr.; and two daughters, Willie Mae and Valeria Michelle.
She leaves a legacy of memories to her 12 children, Samuel L. Cox Jr. (Aymee), Aileen Cox Jones, Claretta C. Newsome (Bernard), Marvin (Lynn), James Emmett (Brenda), Johnnie Lee, Walker M. (Jacqueline), Jesse L. (Teresa), Shaheed Abdur-Rahman, Joddie Ann Davis (Roderick), Phillip and Curtis P. (Tammy); a granddaughter, whom she raised, Gloria J. Artis; two sisters, Alberta Jackson and Rosa Coor Baker (Eddie); a brother, Nathaniel Coor (Ann); brother-in-law, Roosevelt (Ann); 43 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will assemble at 605 Longleaf Ave. at 1 p.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
Hamilton Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
