Danyell Sharron Thomas was born Jan. 14, 1984, in Newark, N.J., to Willie and Delores Thomas. She departed her life Sunday, Aug. 24, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

She completed her education through Wayne County Schools, and graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 2002. She furthered her education with a degree in pharmacy tech.

She was also one of the original "Southern Plaza Girls."

Danyell, also known as "Darla Jean" to her friends, was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.

She loved working with children with special needs, and that led to her career of eight years at Howell's Child Care Center, where she was a lead teacher, and Cashwell Center as a rehabilitation specialist.

Danyell is survived by a son, Amari Thomas of the home; parents, Willie and Delores Thomas; brother, Willie R. Thomas II "Wnky;" a sister, LaTonia Thomas; nephew, Artemis Sheppard; and uncle and aunt, Thera and Deborah Uzzell.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Willie and Odessa Thomas of Goldsboro, N.C., and maternal grandmother, Pearl Clay of Newark, N.J.

The family will have visitation at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home (Wayne Memorial Drive) Friday, Aug. 29, from 1 to 7 p.m. The family will arrive at 6 p.m.

Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Church of Christ, 1801 S. Slocumb St., Goldsboro, N.C.

Burial will be at Wayne Memorial Park North, Old Grantham Road, Goldsboro, N.C.
