GERALD CARSON EDWARDS

Nov. 2, 1924-June 22, 2014

Gerald Carson Edwards "Teeny Boy," 89, passed away Sunday afternoon at the Brian Center in Goldsboro surrounded by his loving family.

Gerald was born in Wayne County Nov. 2, 1924, to the late John Council Edwards and Bessie Pugh Edwards.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Gerald's passion was eating out with his friends at the board of directors table in Wilber's for many years.

He was a hard-working man, which was the theme of his life; he lived to work.

He was the kind of man who was loyal to his family, who took great pride in caring and providing for them.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Edwards Family Cemetery, with Jerry Howell officiating.

Gerald is survived by his sons, Cary Glenn Edwards of Topsail Beach, Thomas Durand Edwards and wife, Tina, of Kinston and Delmar Kay Edwards of LaGrange; daughter, Betty Hope Edwards of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Danielle Holland, Adam Cole Edwards and Dalton Blade Edwards; and sister, Anna Ruth Edmundson of Pikeville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Carson Edwards, and a brother, John Ira Edwards.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times, at the home of Betty Edwards, 104 Saddlewood Drive, Goldsboro.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.rousefh.com.
