BEATRICE B. AMON

July 24, 1929-May 22, 2014

Beatrice Batts Amon, 84, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Beatrice was born at home in Duplin County July 24, 1929, to the late Willie and Bertha Lanier Batts.

She was a loyal wife, loving and accepting mother, doting grandmother, caring daughter and sister and a second mother to many nieces and nephews.

Bea always made everyone feel welcome and comfortable in her home in Goldsboro or Emerald Isle, embodying that good old Southern hospitality and charm. She brought joy to many people with her home-cooked meals and innate ability to make everyone feel special.

Bea owned and operated Bea's Beauty Shop for 20 years.

She loved to travel with John, visiting all 50 states and 34 countries.

Bea had a great faith, and was an active and loyal member of St. Luke United Methodist Church for 60 years.

She loved quilting, and made well over 100 quilts for family and even more as a member of St. Luke Quilters for more than 20 years. Her lovingly stitched quilts adorn many homes, and represent her legacy of selfless devotions to those she loved.

A service celebrating the life of Beatrice will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, with pastor Adam Seate officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Beatrice is survived by her husband of 67 years, John Amon; daughters, Belinda Klau and husband, Gordon, of Birmingham, Ala., and Gale Lewis and husband, Dennis, of Goldsboro; sons, David Amon and wife, Linda, of Kenly and Michael Amon of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Kimberly Corcoran and husband, Sean, Justin Lewis, Lindsey Lewis, Jessica Harrell and husband, Russell, Michelle Amon and John Michael Amon; great-grandchildren, Connor Corcoran, Adean Corcoran and Eleanor Harrell; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Tish Beacham, and brothers, Roger Batts and Reynolds Batts.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 26, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at her home.

The family wishes to express its appreciation to the angels at Kitty Askins, who cared for Bea during her last days.
