Marie Edmundson Lancaster, 89, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Marie was born in Wayne County Dec. 5, 1924, to the late Walter Leslie Edmundson and Sarah Ellen Lancaster Edmundson. She was married to the late John Lee Lancaster.
Marie was a homemaker and a caring, loving parent and grandparent whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family.
She was a member of Saulston United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Moseley officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
Interment will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Carolyn Sims officiating.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Joan L. Hinnant of Goldsboro and Eula L. Gray of LaGrange; sister, Edna Balance and husband, Billy, of Fremont; and sisters-in-law, Frances Creech and Wilma Sasser both of Goldsboro.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kim Atkins and husband, Todd, Angie Walston and husband, Brad, and John Gray and wife, Crystal, and three great-grandchildren, Dylan Corbett, Casey Atkins and Dalton Gray.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by a grandson, Bill Hinnant.
