WILLIE MAE COLLINS

Willie Mae Collins, 75, 302 Labonte Drive, Pikeville, went to be with her Lord and savior Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Pikeville. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton.

Mrs. Collins was born in Wayne County Jan. 24, 1939, to the late Willis and Lucy Howell Whaley.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

Mrs. Collins retired from BellSouth, where was the first woman in Eastern North Carolina to ever climb a telephone pole.

She was also past employed with Wayne Memorial Hospital in security.

She was a very giving person, a great cook and wonderful to her whole family. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of more than 51 years, Donald Collins; two sons, Don Collins Jr. and wife, Melanie, of Pikeville and Rusty Collins and wife, Toi, of Lexington, Ky.; a brother, Larry Whaley and wife, Margaret, of Goldsboro; and a granddaughter, Emmie Collins.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ishmael Whaley.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 11, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in
Goldsboro.
